Welcome to our world

Our story
We are Martin Sikma and Pleun Bonekamp, a photography couple from the Netherlands, travelling around the world in our Land Rover Defender expedition camper since 2023.
We love exploring wild places, embracing adventure, and discovering life beyond the familiar. It’s our curiosity for the world, our love for new experiences, and the unforgettable moments along the way that keep us exploring.
We’re currently overlanding the Pan-American Highway, a journey from Alaska to Patagonia that we began in spring 2024. Having covered nearly two-thirds of the route, we’re now in Ecuador, continuing our journey south through South America.
Along the way, we take the time to explore each region beyond the beaten path, connect with local communities, and immerse ourselves in the cultures and traditions that make every place unique.
Before pursuing photography professionally, we both built careers in science, earning PhDs in Meteorology (Martin) and Climatology (Pleun). Our scientific backgrounds continue to shape the way we see the world, bringing a critical eye, curiosity, and attention to detail to our photography.

Over the years, photography has become an increasingly important part of our lives. In the beginning, our focus was almost entirely on wildlife and nature photography, a passion we still share today.
